2012 – 2013 Registration Information
Registration for the 2012-2013 season will begin for returning players on June 1.
Every returning KMHA player will be guaranteed a space providing they register prior to June 15. Registration for New and Transferring players will open June 15.

**Registration for new players born in 2008 will be accepted only if spaced is available in our program.
Players born in 2008 maybe registered during new player registration however space will only be confirmed during the week of August 20.

Waiting Lists
Due to the number of players wishing to enrol with the KMHA and the limited hours of ice available only returning players registering by June 15 will be guaranteed a place with the KMHA for the 2012-2013 season. After June 15 all registrants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Limits to registration have been set for each age division; once the limits have been reached registrants will be placed on a waiting list. Wait listed registrants will only be accepted once there is a vacancy in the appropriate age division.
Returning Players
Returning players are those registered with KMHA during the 2011-2012 season (including those Kanata residents that played for the Senators AAA association).
Registration for returning players will open June 1. Players registering between June 1 – 15 will be guaranteed space for the 2012-2013 season. Returning players registering after June 15 are accepted on a first come first served basis with all other registrants.
On-line registration will only be open to returning players wishing to pay by credit card. Parents who registered online last season must sign in to the on-line system using the user id and password they created for the for previous on-line registration. If you are a returning player who has not used our on-line registration in either of the last two seasons you need to create a user id and password. Follow the online instructions after clicking on the registration link. The link for on-line registration will be posted on June 1st.
Payment by cheque can be made starting June 1st by completing the manual registration form, enclosing the cheque payment per the payment schedule and placing it in the Registrar’s mailbox at the KMHA office at the back of the main concourse at the Kanata Recreation Complex. Registration will NOT be accepted without the accompanying payment. We do not accept cash payment for Registration and will not take responsibility of any cash payment left in the registrar’s mailbox. The manual registration from will be posted June 1.
Returning players wishing to pay by credit card but not wishing to register on-line may attend any in-person registration session.
New Players
New players are those who have not previously played organized hockey. If your player has played organized hockey outside of the Kanata area please see the transferring player instructions.
All new players must register in person during one of the scheduled in person sessions.
What to bring with you to register:
- proof of residence (rental or purchase agreement/utility bill)
- proof of age (birth certificate/passport) for the player you wish to register
- Completed manual registration form
- Payment (cheque(s) or Visa/MasterCard)
Registration will not be accepted unless ALL documentation is presented.
Transferring Players
Transferring Players are those who have played organized hockey outside of the Kanata area prior to registering in Kanata.
Transferring players must register in person. If it is not possible to attend an in person registration session please contact the Registrar at registrar@kmha.ca directly to make other arrangements.
What to bring to registration:
- Players who have previously been registered with another association within the ODMHA must bring a completed manual registration form, an Inter-District Transfer form and the accompanying proof documents as noted on the form (at minimum a rental/purchase agreement AND either a school registration or utility bill) along with payment (cheque/Visa/MasterCard) per the fee schedule
- Players coming from an area outside of the ODMHA must bring a completed manual registration form, proof of Kanata residence (rental or purchase agreement/utility bill), a letter from your former organization confirming that the player owes no outstanding fees and has no outstanding suspensions, along with payment (cheque/Visa/MasterCard) per the fee schedule
Registration will not be accepted unless ALL documentation is presented.
In-Person Registration - NOTE: Dates and Times Updated on April 30, 2012
The in-person registration is as follows:
In-person registration open to all returning/new/transferring players:
- Friday, June 15 – 5:30 to 8:30 pm - main concourse KRC
- Saturday, June 23 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm - main concourse KRC
New and transferring players registering after these dates must contact the KMHA registrar at registrar@kmha.ca to arrange registration.
Tryouts
- New this season – all tryouts must be registered for by August 1. After August 1, no tryout changes or additions will be permitted.
Tryouts are for players wishing to tryout for COMPETITIVE teams only. If you wish to have your player try out for competitive hockey in their age group please register for only the highest level of tryout you wish them to attend. Only register for ONE tryout. If your player is released from a tryout they will automatically be moved down to attend the next set of tryouts, or, if being released from competitive B they will automatically be move to house league sort outs. There are no further fees for the multiple tryouts. Any player not registered for tryouts will automatically be put into house league sort outs commencing in September.
Sortouts
Sortouts are for players wishing to play HOUSE league only. This process begins in September with players being evaluated for their skill level. There is no additional fee for sortouts for a house league player.
Junior Hockey
Junior hopefuls must register with KMHA to hold a space. There is no guarantee of a place with KMHA for players release from a Junior team unless they have previously registered for the 2012 – 2013 season.
AAA Hockey
Per ODMHA rules Kanata players wishing to try out for Senators AAA at the August tryouts must register in Kanata first. The process for Kanata registration for AAA hopefuls will be the same as for the 2011 – 2012 season. KMHA will not require a payment to be made for any player trying out for AAA. By registering on-line using our event site you will be considered to be registered with Kanata for the purposes of both AAA tryouts and the Kanata AA tryouts. If your player is released from AAA tryouts you must then complete the manual registration form and submit it along with full payment prior to your player being able to participate in KMHA AA tryouts. Please do not submit a payment if you are registering for AAA tryouts
The registration link will be posted on June 1.
Simply enter 1 in the Quantity for the proper tryout level for your player then click on the Register button. Enter the players first and last names along with the e-mail address of the parent and select the Complete registration button. You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Eventbrite.
Financial/Payment Information
Family Discount
- 3rd Child – $60 off
- 4th Child – $90 off
- 5th Child – $90 off
When registering online the discount will be automatically applied to your order during checkout when registering more than 3 children.All fees paid by credit card must be made in full at the time of payment.
2012-2013 Registration Fees
The full fee schedule will be posted by May 21.
Please note that in addition to the basic registration fees teams will require additional funds from each participant to cover additional costs for item such as tournament registration fees and team events.
All fees being paid by credit card will be processed in full at the time of registration.
Cheque payments
- Those registering prior to July 1 may pay fees in two equal instalments, the first dated June 15, the second dated July 15. Full tryout fees if applicable must be included with the first instalment.
- Those registering from July 1 forward must pay fees in one installment due immediately upon registration.
Note: KMHA does NOT accept payment in cash.
Credit Card Payments
All fees paid by credit card must be made in full at the time of payment.
NSF Cheques
All cheques returned for insufficient funds are subject to a $25 administration fee and must be replaced by certified cheque, money order or credit card payment. Non-payment will result in the player being suspended from participating in KMHA activities.

Financial Assistance
The KMHA has in place a financial assistance program that aids families who would otherwise not be able to afford hockey with registration fees. KMHA, in partnership with the ODHA and the Senators Foundation can also help to provide equipment for your player. We can also arrange alternative payment plans for those who need this option. For further information on financial assistance or alternative payment plans please contact the KMHA VP of Finance at vpfinance@kmha.ca.
Volunteer Information
Police Checks
The KMHA requires a valid police check if you volunteer on a team. If you are going to volunteer for this upcoming season (2012/13), please ensure that your Police and Vulnerable Check is up to date, i.e. any Police Checks done before 2009, are no longer valid and a new one is required.
